When it comes to facial exfoliation I’m a fan, but I haven’t always been so wise. Back when I was younger I went through phase after phase of using gritty, nasty exfoliants every single day at one point and obviously that was no good for me. Nowadays the trend seems to be less grim grittiness and more acidic, gentle feeling exfoliating products. With this in mind, I decided to give the Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Fix (RRP £5.99) a try.
Introducing the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Fix.
Glycolic acid works just like any exfoliator, safely removing the outer layer of dead skin cells from your face (or wherever else you’re using it). DIY glycolic peel products are coming up in popularity recently, but I mainly wanting to try the Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Fix because I find it so, so hard to find decent exfoliating products that don’t break me out or go the other way and dry out my skin.
According to the instructions you apply a pea sized amount of the clear gel product to your face post-cleanse and leave overnight. For someone as out of the loop as me, it would have been handy for the packaging to let you know if you can use other products with it- do you moisturise before or after? Do you moisturise at all? It does, however, let you know to wash your face first thing in the morning and apply a decent SPF (this part is super important!).
I’ve used this about once a week for a couple of weeks now and it’s a fairly pleasant product. It’s not as harsh as I was expecting at all – I was actually pretty nervous to use it, but it soaks into the skin quickly and after a minute or so you don’t even know you’re using it.
The Naturally Radiant Glycolic Overnight Fix promises to reveal younger, brighter skin, but at 23 I should hope I can’t look much younger. People in work still believe I’m 19. I can tell you though that after a good face wash in the morning my skin is smooth as hell. I feel like I’ll always have radiance issues because I really neglect drinking enough water and there’s definitely times I’m lazy with my make up removal, but this product pushes me one step closer to that natural glow.
The product isn’t a cleansing product, but I imagine a good thorough sloughing of any and all dead skin cells from the surface of my skin has also played a part in the calming of my break outs. My skin feels smoother and fresher, and while I don’t look younger, I certainly look more awake. Hello, no make up make up days.
Will I be repurchasing? Yes I will, but there’s enough in this little bottle to last a long time anyway.
Have you tried any of the Naturally Radiant range? Is there any products I should get my hands on?
