Ah, the great quest for fantastic brows. How many of us are still suffering from the days of overplucking in high school? It’s a tragedy. Luckily for those of us that are still reliving the horror of ripping half our brows out (or worse, shaving them off a la Georgia Nicholson), Alchemy Oils is back at it again with another absolute gem for your collection. You’ll have seen me mention their Grapefruit Hair Remedy a bunch of times in previous posts because I literally swear by it. It’s stuck by me through my oily days, and that one day where I got annoyed that ~bleaching is a process~ and stripped my hair four times in a day. It is entirely possible, nay, probable that I have Alchemy Oils to thank for the fact that I didn’t lose all my hair that day.
So when I was offered the opportunity to try their latest release, their Peppermint Brow Remedy, I couldn’t bash out an acceptance email quick enough. My brows may have gone through slightly less trauma than the poor hair that had the misfortune of appearing on my head, but they certainly have had a hard time. From insisting on letting peer pressure pluck them in 2005 to basically being non-existent in 2010, it’s also kind of a miracle they haven’t given up on me entirely.
We don’t really take much care of our brows, do we? I’ve fallen down many a rabbit hole on Youtube watching brow tutorials to fill them, product reviews of the best way to shape them and con the world into thinking you were blessed with perfect arches, but I’m really yet to see a product that aims to care for them after all of that. Enter stage left, Alchemy Oils and their Peppermint Brow Remedy.
Much like their Grapefruit Hair remedy, the Peppermint Brow remedy comes in an adorable stopper-topped bottle and comes with an equally impressive list of ingredients. Packed into this tiny miracle worker is coconut oil, argan oil, rosehip oil, avocado oil and peppermint essential oil. All of these are oils I’m learning to love for their individual benefits as well as the punch they pack here. Better still, it’s cruelty free and vegan like it’s citrusy counterparts.
I apply this as per the instructions every night, post-cleanse and before bed. The peppermint as you can probably imagine does offer something of a refreshing tingle, and I learned the hard way that too much can leave you with some teary eyes, but aside from that application is as simple as can be. The Peppermint Brow Remedy offers super conditioned brows and quicker re-growth as peppermint stimulates the hair follicles, but the biggest benefit for me has been how in control they are. I have famously unruly brows (cheers again, mum) which when left unattended can spread all over my damn face. They’re super coarse and I can often find products really difficult to apply.
Alchemy Oil’s Peppermint Brow remedy has softened out the bulk of my brows so they’re much less tough, and in turn, it makes products apply more evenly and with much more ease. Goodbye, patchy brows! The oil is super soothing to massage in and I have noticed some quicker regrowth in the awkward tails of my brows that tend to fall victim to my over plucking. My early morning bed-brow has also eased up – aside from having super coarse hair I’ve also somehow been blessed with curly eyebrows that kind of spin out of control by mornings.
I’ve also experimented a little with using this to set my brows in a morning so I don’t have to use any setting gels or other products atop my brow powder. Surprisingly it is effective and leaves my brows feeling less stiff as a result. A word of warning though – oil products do also remove your makeup and this is no exception, so I do use it very, very sparingly.
